Gustav is nearly always travelling. (To avoid the perhaps obvious thought that some people might have: his trips are not sponsored by the Alink-Argerich Foundation.)

December: Gustav came home from Japan and tried to catch up with everything. After only a few days at home, he travelled to France for a special concert in Paris and visiting several competition organisers. He continued his trip to Tulle (also in France) for the Poulenc Competition (AAF). Back in Paris, he wanted to take a look at the International Bach Competition, but it had been postponed. After again a few days at home, he travelled to Germany, where he gave a lecture in Nuernberg, and stopped by in Dortmund. The rest of the month, Gustav is spending much time working on the new AAF catalogue which will come out in January. He also went to Brussels, where he visited Martha Argerich. Together, they went to a special concert and afterwards, they talked for many hours about wonderful memories from the past, recent events, and future projects.

November: the beginning of November, Gustav was still in Weimar (Germany) for the Liszt Competition (AAF). On November 11, he travelled to Japan. In Tokyo, he had a few meetings. On November 14th, Gustav gave a lecture in Seoul (South Korea). Between November 16 and 27, he attended the Int'l Piano Competition in Hamamatsu (Japan) (AAF), and on November 30th, he gave another lecture in Tokyo.

October: the beginning of the month, Gustav stayed at home recovering from a slight cold. He also had to deal with the problems caused by an aggressive virus which had not infected him, but one of his computers. Later in the month, Gustav had a quick look at the International Students Piano Competition in Utrecht, to which Paul Pollei (organiser of the Gina Bachauer Competition) had been invited as a jury member. Gustav was unable to be at the opening concert of the International Chopin Competition in Darmstadt (AAF), since he also had to travel to China, where he attended the first half of the new International Piano Concerto Competition in Shenzhen (near Hong Kong). He specially returned to the Netherlands a little earlier, to be just on time for the finals of the Int'l Piano Competition for Young Musicians in Enschede (AAF), where he served on the Press Jury. Before the end of the month, Gustav went to Weimar where he attended the last day of the first round of the Liszt Competition (AAF).

September: the beginning of September, Gustav was still in Munich at the ARD Competition, but only for one day, and then returned home in order to be on time in England for the beginning of the Leeds International Pianoforte Competition. Two days later, Gustav was on the plane again to Oslo, to attend the conclusion of the Grieg Competition (AAF). Later in the month, Gustav travelled to San Marino (AAF), to attend a few days of the 2nd International Piano Competition in that country.

August: Gustav visited the well-known International Competition for Young Pianists in Ettlingen (Germany). He was also three days in Prague, and later in the month he travelled to Austria and Italy, spending a few days observing the Busoni Competition in Bolzano. Due to lack of time, he was unable to visit the Brahms Competition in Poertschach, but he could make a stop in Munich (Germany), to be at the ARD Competition.

July: From Salzburg, Gustav travelled to the Czech Republic, to attend the Int'l Chopin Competition in Marianske Lazne. From there, he went to Germany for the Bach Competition in Leipzig. After returning home, he was again in touch with many other competitions and pianists.

June: Gustav was a few days in Italy, attending the Alessandro Casagrande Competition in Terni. After returning home, he had to catch up with dozens of piano competitions, updating AAF's website, and continued to communicate with many competition organisers and pianists. Also in June, Gustav flew to Madrid (Spain), to attend the finals of the Guerrero Competition (AAF). The end of June, he was in Salzburg where he had been invited to give a lecture on piano competitions.

May: the beginning of May, Gustav was in Barcelona (Spain), at the conclusion of the first stage of the Maria Canals Competition. On May 18th and 21st, Gustav was in London, giving lectures and chairing a panel discussion on Piano Competitions (18 May, at the Royal College of Music, and 21 May for EPTA). In between, Gustav flew to Dublin to attend the final day of the Dublin Int'l Piano Competition (AAF). On May 29th, Gustav was also in Belgium for a special concert by Martha Argerich, then in Germany and flew from there to Italy, to be a few days at the Alessandro Casagrande Competition in Terni (near Rome).

April: the first week of April, Gustav was in Japan. He spent two days in Tokyo, where he gave a presentation on Piano Competitions (with much information about the repertoire at competitions). He also visited the office of the Hamamatsu Int'l Piano Competition (AAF). Later in April, he was back in Paris, for the Paris audition of the Vendome Prize (AAF), and the Nikolaj Rubinstein Competition and the Jean Francaix Competition. The end of April, Gustav was in Geneva (Switzerland) where the WFIMC celebrated its 50th annual General Assembly.

The beginning of March, Gustav travelled to Serbia & Montenegro, to give a presentation on piano competitions at the international piano symposium in Novi Sad. He also stayed there to hear the first round of the junior categories of the Isidor Bajic Piano Memorial Competition (AAF). On March 25-26, Gustav will be in Essen (Germany) for the first Carl Bechstein Competition (AAF).

In February, Gustav continues distributing the new AAF brochure. He was in Paris, where he witnessed part of the preselection for the Piano-e-Competition (AAF). Later in the month, he will be back in France: again in Paris, and also in Pontoise (near Paris), for the International Piano Competition Piano Campus (AAF). In Paris, Gustav attended a performance of Martha Argerich. Before returning home, he stopped by in Brussels, to talk with her a little more.

In January 2006, Gustav spent much time finishing the second annual AAF catalogue in which all 44 current AAF member competitions are clearly presented with many interesting details. Immediately after it came out, copies were sent to many addresses. Gustav went to Germany, and the end of the month, he was in France, to attend the first stage of the competition in Orleans (AAF)
