AAF
is open to all musicians and competitions. So what does it mean to be an AAF
member?
Musicians
and competition organisers who join AAF, pay an annual contribution. They
receive dedicated assistance and receive detailed answers to any
question or matter they submit throughout the year.
(For proper understanding: AAF is a Foundation, i.e. a not-for-profit organisation, having no commercial intentions. The Alink-Argerich Foundation depends on contributions in order to cover its expenses. AAF is keen on working efficiently and to act most effectively for its members. Their membership means great support for AAF.)
Also other musicians and competitions may call upon AAF for information and assistance. Thanks to the contributions that AAF receives from its members, AAF can continue to offer all services and to expand them. It will be understood that in handling any requests, AAF gives priority to competitions and musicians that have joined AAF, while AAF will always be alert to remain objective and independent.)
Competitions that join AAF, receive publicity and promotion - for instance, through AAF’s web site and by inclusion in the AAF brochure. Whenever possible, Gustav Alink also writes about the competitions in News items and in articles.

The AAF brochure contains details of all AAF member competitions. Additionally, each member competition is entitled to a full page - full-colour - in this brochure. This is offered by AAF to its members for free. Furthermore, AAF also takes charge of a large-scale distribution of the brochure.
An
updated AAF brochure is issued every year.
Throughout the year, each AAF member competition thus receives excellent
promotion.
This - together with the announcements, news items, photos
and links on AAF's web site - means continuous
publicity.
Furthermore,
member competitions:
- may call upon the dense network of personal
contacts AAF has in the Piano World
(This can be very useful in attracting high-level contestants,
and/or jury members that match a certain profile)
- can ask for verification of biographical
information that contestants and applicants submit
(AAF has access to information on approx. 48,000 pianists, covering over 142,000
individual competition results)
-
may receive any type of information
regarding pianists or competitions, anywhere in the world
(results, participation conditions, analyses, statistics,
comparisons, procedures, etc..)
- may request certain analyses or statistics
- benefit
from special reductions
- obtain assistance, suggestions,
recommendations
and advice
(e.g. about rules, procedures, formulations and translations)
Note: AAF does not offer any services on a commercial basis. Therefore, all services and assistance are offered for free. Whenever the amount of information (or the time involved) in a certain request exceeds AAF's capacity, the service can still be rendered by Gustav Alink and a fee might apply.

Musicians who join AAF
individually, can leave the search for information about
competitions to AAF.
They may receive details from an extensive competition
calendar. (AAF monitors more than 300 competitions per year!) AAF
can establish useful contacts and AAF can
also mediate when problems arise.
An important advantage is that communication is possible in various
languages.
