First Prize: US$ 150,000 ...!

In April 2018, the Malta International Music Festival-Competition astonished the Piano World by offering a 100,000 Euro First Prize (which was won by Anna Ulayeva). The total prize money was 200,000 Euro.

Like in 2014 and 2016, the Rina Sala Gallo Competition (AAF) in Monza (Italy) has published the votes of the jury members. Here, they can be seen:

2nd Harbin Int'l Music Competition

The first Harbin Int'l Music Competition (AAF) was held in Harbin (China), January 2018, and offered very high prize money. The 2nd edition has been announced for 28 August - 10 September 2019. Peter Grote was General Secretary for the first edition, but he will not be involved for the next edition. Time is running fast ... The rules of the 2nd competition have been published in Chinese (click here), but not yet in English.

Tchaikovsky Competition 2019

Next year (June 2019), the famous Tchaikovsky Competition should be held again, but the rules and conditions are not on the website yet. Many people are wondering about this. They wish to prepare, apply, and the organisers also need time to make a preselection of participants.

Warsaw: Chopin Competition on Period Instruments

In Warsaw, the very first International Chopin Competition on Period Instruments (AAF) was held (2-14 September 2018). It was very interesting to hear the different sound of the various instruments when they were played in the Chamber Music Hall and in Great Hall of the Filharmonia for the finals, accompanied by the Orchestra of the 18th Century.

The recently held Edvard Grieg Int'l Piano Competition (AAF) in Bergen (Norway) published all the voting details and points, given by the jury members at every stage of the competition:
